Full Review of the Camelbak Ante
The CamelBak Ante is a medium capacity and low profile hydration pack designed specifically for women who like to venture off the piste. The new streamlined pack has a 40% lower profile than most packs in the range in order to make skiing, snowboarding, and sitting on the chairlift much more comfortable. The Ante is the new and improved version of the Roulette, with its male counterpart a much bulkier and slightly different shaped pack, known as the Tycoon.

Features
CamelBak are renowned for their significant contributions to the hydration pack industry, and every single pack they produce contains umpteen different technologies designed by the company. The CamelBak Ante features the insulated PureFlow water tube which sits inside the shoulder strap and prevents the water from freezing over in wintry conditions – more common a problem than you might originally think for skiers and snowboarders.
The hydration pack has been redesigned to sit 40% lower than previous packs for additional comfort when up in the snowy mountains. The pack has a zip which provides easy access to the Big Bite valve, attached to the large 3 litre bladder so you can remain hydrated on a long day trek.
A pocket on the side of the pack provides access without having to open up the main compartment and root around. There is also a pocket with fleece lining which is ideal for storing glasses without causing any scratches but also suitable for keys, wallet and other essentials.
Usability
Camelbak’s Ante has not only focused on the hydration side of things but also the storage that you’ll need for a long day off the beaten track. The pack offers an area to stow skis or a snowboard and has zippers which can be easily opened with gloves.
It also features good strong waist strap and back pad with extra protection in the event that you fall. The shape of the Ante has been designed specifically to fit a female, it has a shorter torso length and curved shoulder harness so it should be extra comfortable.
Disadvantages
If I had one complaint about the CamelBak Ante it would be the lack of a snowshed back panel which would prevent your back getting damp or wet even after your pack has been tossed about in the snow.
Advantages
The CamelBak Ante is definitely the best hydration pack on the market for women who enjoy sidecountry skiing. There are so many great things about the Ante including the glove-friendly zippers and the fact that it has been designed to fit the female form. The pack is not at all bulky and the new low-profile shape means that it is even more comfortable to wear when skiing and snowboarding. The insulated water tube allows you to stay hydrated for long periods of time without having to worry about the supply freezing over.
