Full Review of the Camelbak Aventura Hydration Pack
The CamelBak Aventura is a large female-specific backpack with hydration system. It has been designed with a woman’s build in mind and is geared towards long distance day hikes. The Aventura has a large 3 litre water reservoir and 24 litres of storage space which is enough for even the most challenging of hikes. The CamelBak Aventura has been redesigned for 2011 and is stacked with CamelBak’s own features and designs. Let’s take a look:
As ever, comfort is vitally important especially with larger packs which are geared towards all-day use. Comfort is ensured by the integration of the Dynamic Suspension harness system. This S-shaped harness system is designed to make the Aventura more suitable for a woman’s shape and size. The shoulder straps are comfortably padded and made with low friction materials to reduce chafing. Despite using low weight materials, the CamelBak Aventura weighs just over a kilo before anything is put in it. To offset this weight to some degree is a hip belt described a semi-load bearing.
The 3 litre Antidote reservoir is CamelBak’s standard hydration system of which they are very proud. Indeed, the hydration system included in the CamelBak Aventura has proven to be popular with hikers for quite a while now. Central to its usability is its easy-to-open filling aperture and light, low profile construction which slots easily to the pack. This bladder is also very easy to remove from the pack when it comes to cleaning but this is not necessary for refilling.
On the exterior of the CamelBak Aventura there are many loops and mounts for items such as ice axes and trekking poles for winter conditions. These loops can also be used to hold other non-winter specific tools such as torches and compasses. To organise your other bits and pieces, there are many convenient pockets in the main compartment of the CamelBak Aventura. Inside this panel-loading backpack there is a fleece lined pocket at the top of the pack which is useful for easily damaged or scratched items such as a mobile phone or camera. The zip for this compartment is also waterproof as you would hope.
On both flanks of the CamelBak Aventura there are deeper elastic pockets large enough for additional water bottles or energy bars and gels. You really are not going to run out of space with the Aventura.
There are a couple of improvements that could be made with the CamelBak Aventura; for one thing there are no pockets in the hip belt. The hip belt can often be the most convenient place for small items to be stored. The other very small complaint is that some ladies may find the chest strap slightly too low for comfort.
So now to the bottom line; the CamelBak Aventura is a well-designed, spacious, solid hiking pack for long hikes when you need more than just a few bits and pieces. The cargo storage area is very large, especially for a female-specific pack. Another solid backpack from CamelBak.

Not only is the Camelbak Aventura overpriced it doesn’t have any pockets in the hip belt. Usually I store things in my hip belt but this pack just didn’t cut it. Also the chest strap rubbed and is not comfortable. I would recommend women long distance riders to purchase other packs.
This is the perfect hydration pack for women who love hiking. I hike almost every weekend with my boyfriend. I really love all of its features. Especially the S-curve harness which is really comfortable.
One improvement that could be made is adding pockets. There are no pockets in the hip belt. The hip belt is where I like to store things that I might need to get within a minutes notice.
