Full Review of the Janome Memory Craft 6600P Sewing Machine
This Janome machine is everything the keen amateur or professional stitcher could want. A whole raft of stitches made even more by the fact that every one can be lengthened by up to five times, giving a huge range to the creative machine embroiderer. The patented acufeed foot means that you can feed more than two layers through without the need for tacking in advance and the bed is 50% larger than you would get with any other machine. There is no free arm, but this machine is not really designed for that kind of sewing; it has so many specialist stitches and innovations that it is likely that its owner would have at least one other machine at their disposal for day to day use.
Getting to know your Janome memory Craft 6600P Sewing Machine
Despite the fact that the instruction manual is extremely clearly written and that there is a very comprehensive stitch guide in the lift up top and an LCD screen, this machine will take a while to get to know well. Many shops provide a series of lessons along with the purchase of the Janome memory Craft 6600P Sewing Machine and as it is top of the range for price this is only fair. Even so, most people will probably find that it will take them a while to get to know the machine thoroughly.
This is not a problem, as it is clearly built to last and unless there is a huge computer innovation just down the road, I would think that this is a sewing machine for life. The speed is amazing at 1000 stitches per minute and with over 400 stitches to choose from this sewing machine does the lot. It has all the usual bells and whistles but when you add overcasting, blind hemming, satin stitch and the darning foot, it becomes a machine for all purposes. I personally use mine for a small business personalising vintage clothing and it copes with old and fragile fabrics just as well as the more robust canvas and leather. The accufeed feature is brilliant for me as I often need to back my fabrics and if I had to tack them all the time I would not be able to afford to do this craft as it would be too time consuming to be worthwhile.
Would I recommend?
Although it is expensive, I think the Janome memory Craft 6600P Sewing Machine is nevertheless a good buy if you like to use a lot of stitches. Dont buy this machine if all you do is basic dressmaking because you will never get enough use out of it to make it worthwhile, and dont forget it has no free arm, so you might find yourself limited. Because it can handle decorative threads as well as normal mercerised cottons it is a real addition to any creative fabric crafters armoury.

I haven’t sewn much over the past ten years. The Janome Memory Craft 6600P Sewing Machine makes it really easy to get back into sewing. It is very easy to use and the manual is easy to understand. I have had the machine for a year now and haven’t had a single problem. I really like the larger table. Plus it is really easy to thread.
