Full Review of the Lezyne Adroit Hydration Pack

The design team at Lezyne have clearly put a lot of thought into this pack as it offers a rather organised set of compartments and a bladder that is easy to fill and to clean. Equipped with a 3 litre bladder and 19 litres of storage, the Lezyne Adroit Hydration Pack has got it all. Or does it?

Pockets, Pockets, Pockets

The first thing to mention about the Lezyne Adroit is its very extensive and interesting pocket designs. On the outside of the pack, there are two easily accessible pockets that are waterproofed so don’t be afraid to put clothes or shoes in there. This pack also comes with a fleece-lined and waterproof eletronics pocket which is great for storing your iPod or mobile. Inside the pack, the pocket layout is awesome! For starters, the pack zips right open into two halves making it easier to look for things. On the one side, there are picture-labelled (yes labelled) pockets for your money, patch kits, etc. and on the other side there are special pockets for your tools and airpump. I didn’t think that I would be so excited about pockets but the design is so cleverly thought through that Lezyne really need some credit for it.

Customisable Fit

When it comes to keeping dry and comfortable, the Lezyne Adroit is fitted with an aluminium plate that in theory is supposed to provide you with a fantastic support while keeping you dry. In all honesty, the jury’s out on this one as I find that a pack fitted with a mesh ventilation does a better job at keeping you dry as it allows for airflow but some riders prefer the support given by the plate. I must point out here that the plate is adjustable so it can be shaped to suit your back.

The pack comes with a detachable waiststrap which if used, will provide extra support for the pack as well as supply you with a few extra pockets for energy gels and bars. Should you choose not to use the waiststrap, simply remove it and leave it at home. A very nifty feature on all Lezyne packs is the fact that you can roll up the back compression straps into a ball which is then secured with a velcro strip. This is a great feature as it gets those straps out of the way instead of them flapping next to you as you cycle. That is some great attention to detail.

The Bladder

The 3 litre bladder is a Lezyne-designed bladder and is designed to be both easy to fill and easy to clean. The bladder unscrews at the base for easy cleaning and the zip-seal at the top allows you to fill it quickly and easily. The bitevalve can be adjusted right or left depending on your preference. The length of the bladder keeps the hose straight in the pack which allows for uninhibited waterflow to your mouth.

Is this the perfect bladder? Well the short answer is no. I have been out a number of times with this pack and the bladder has leaked about 70% of the time which is just ridiculous.

Below is the full range of Lezyne Adroit features:

  • 19 litre total storage volume
  • Front access stash pockets
  • Customisable aluminium spine
  • Lezyne high-flow 3-litre bladder
  • Roadside tool organisation
  • Numerous compression straps hold gear safely
  • Multi-pocketed removable waist strap
  • Fleece-lined music pocket with water-resistant port

The Verdict?

All in all, the Lezyne Adroit is a great pack but it is not without its flaws. It is a shame really as this pack has so much potential with its great trailside organisation but for me, a leaking and weak bladder is a big no no and pretty much cancels out all of its other fantastic features. Would I recommend this to you, no, look elsewhere.

  1. I really enjoy this pack. Not only does it offer 19 litres of storage it also offers a water resistant pocket. Plus you get pockets that will store just about anything imaginable.
