Full Review of the Numatic HVX200A Henry Extra Vacuum Cleaner
The Numatic HVX200A Henry Extra Vacuum Cleaner is one of the newer Henry cleaners on the market. Aside from being remarkably quiet in use, this Henry is powerful and performs well. The extra accessories, long power cable and great suction power make it a good choice for pet owners.
Features
The first thing you will notice about the Numatic HVX200A Henry Extra is that it has an extra long power cable – 10m long! Having such a long power cable is really useful as it means that you can clean large parts of the house without having to change plug sockets that often.
The only difference between the Henry Extra and the Regular Henry cleaner is that the Extra comes with two additional tools. The airbrush head, which is for carpets and rugs, features a rotating brush that is driven by airflow. This brush is particularly useful when it comes to picking up pet hair as it teases the hair out of carpets and sofas. While this airbrush works brilliantly, if you are looking for a vacuum cleaner just to tackle pet hair, I would recommend the Numatic HHR200A Harry above the Henry Extra. The Numatic Harry is designed specifically to deal with pet hair and has an odour neutralising filter and HairoBrush for pet hair.
The hard floor brush, which is for laminate and tiles, is particularly useful when it comes to removing tough dirt from your tiles. In fact, it made light work of the dried mud that I had on the laminate flooring in our test centre. Aside from these two extra tools, the Henry Extra is identical to the normal Henry. Both have the economy power mode and the high power mode and both run on 1200 watts. If you wanted to, you can buy the airbrush head and the hard floor brush separately for your standard Henry.
The Numatic HVX200A Henry Extra does come with bags but because of the extra large litre capacity, you will not need to change the bag very often.
Usability
The Numatic HVX200A Henry Extra Vacuum Cleaner is an excellent all round cleaner for any home. In fact, this cleaner is the choice of professionals because of its ability to pick up large debris as well as smaller dust and dirt particles. The secret behind its success is that these cleaners have such a simple design, with the motor in the lid and the filter in the bag. There are few bells and whistles on this cleaner but there is no need when it does such an excellent job.
The economy mode is more than enough for your daily once over around the house and the high power function is perfect for lifting deeply ingrained dirt and pet hair. An added bonus is that the Numatic HVX200A Henry Extra is very quiet in use which makes a nice change from the usual roar that comes from many vacuum cleaners.
As much as the Henry Extra does a great job at vacuuming, I do have a few gripes. Because the motor is in the lid, it is quite top-heavy and tends to fall over more than other cylinder vacuum cleaners. Falling over does not do the cleaner any harm and at most, it is more of an annoyance than anything else.
The small wheels at the front don’t climb very well, so they can get stuck on the lead, which is irritating as you have to give it a bit of a tug which is not great for the machine. I must point out that this Henry weighs 9.2kg which is pretty solid so lugging it around the house could be a bit much for some.
The Verdict?
The Numatic HVX200A Henry Extra is a brilliant vacuum cleaner. It is strong, sturdy and is certainly built to last. It has a very strong suction power and the large capacity means that you will not be replacing the bags very often. And let’s face it, who doesn’t like having Henry smiling back at you when you are hoovering the house.

I love my Henry and will never consider buying another cleaner. He is a master at cleaning and removes pet hair with no problem. Yoy are right though, he does take a tumble when I turn corners too quickly but that is nothing to cry about.
