Full Review of the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer

The Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer has a super powerful magnet unit which delivers five resistance levels through a handlebar mounted adjuster. This feature of the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer is especially useful for anyone wanting to train at a specific cadence, as the resistance does not waver. The base is a solidly built square, with a floating frame which gives the rider a genuine road experience. A problem with some trainers is tyre wear; the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer is fitted with ElastoGel rollers which not only overcome this problem but also reduce noise (measured at a reduction of at least 20%) and improve grip. The Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer uses gravity to keep the bike on the roller and so is very stable in use.

Using the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer

The Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer is very easy to set up from its folded flat storage mode, it just needs to be pulled out and the bike mounted in, using the Q/R mounting system. The magnet unit is very small and neat and because it fits between the forks when the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer is folded down, the space it takes up is very minimal. As it is a magnet unit and so is lighter than other Elite products, a light rider may experience a degree of instability in the ride, because the riders weight is what keeps the tyre on the roller. But as this means that the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer will allow much more movement from the bike in use this may not really considered too much of a downside to this unit, as no matter how much resistance is set and no matter how much you stand up in the pedals and roll about, you will experience a really road-like ride. When the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer is being used to train for a specific event, this is very important, as obviously you will want to have as little difference between training and trialling as possible, especially if you are logging training parameters and need to keep your averages accurate.

Is the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer a good buy?

In the price range, the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer offers a quiet, stable ride which will mimic road conditions well. The handlebar mounted adjuster of the Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer is an excellent feature, as it means that the rider can change the resistance while pedalling, meaning smooth increases or decreases which mimic the real road situation better. The Elite Mag Force ElastoGel Trainer is so easy to set up that it will be used, rather than live in the garage, and this makes it good value for money as well as a genuinely useful training tool. The frame is solidly made but folds down almost completely flat, with just the magnet unit standing up, so although it wont quite go under the sofa, it will definitely go under the bed!
