Full Review of the Toyota JET B 224
Available in a glossy black finish, the Toyota JET B 224 sewing machine is a great looking device that promises to do much but actually delivers very little which is a shame. The standard functionality on this machine is aimed at beginners and those with a little more experience but to be honest, the clunky and unintuitive design of this machine is not really ideal for anyone. Although available at an affordable price, I would take your money and spend it on some of the other equally priced machines that offer a better all-round experience.

Usability
Offering 24-stitch options, the Toyota JET B 224 sewing machine is supposed to be a great companion for those sewers who want to flex their creative fingertips and to create wall hangings, cushion covers and curtains amongst other things. When in use however, this machine does not glide across the material but rather engages with it in a cumbersome and heavy manner. The built-in needle threader, although a nice to have, takes some getting used to and the front-loading bobbin can get quite fiddly. Although I do not believe that any sewing machine is 100% jam proof, just make sure that the bobbin on your Toyota JET B 224 is kept clean of fluff as it tends to jam quite quickly.
Weighing in at 7kgs, this machine is pretty solid and likes to stay put. It does not come with a carry case so transportation could potentially be a bit tricky. The added benefit of having such a heavy machine is that it will not bounce about when you are dealing with heavier fabrics such as jeans.
Features
The Toyota JET B 224 sewing machine comes with a drop feed facility, zipper insertion and a presser foot pressure controller. It must be said that the presser foot controller is very responsive and adjusts well with all thickness of fabric, leaving you with an even seam every time.
This machine can “handle” (“handle” being the operative word) free arm sewing and flat-bed sewing, and comes complete with an extension table for large pieces of material. As you may have guess, the Toyota JET B 224 is not suitable for thick heavy upholstery so do not even go there.
Conclusion
All in all, I am not a huge fan of the Toyota JET B 224 sewing machine. At first glance, its slick and smooth exterior shows elegance and promises performance but when it comes to the crunch, this machine battles with the basics. It is designed with beginners and intermediates in mind but I think Toyota have battled to understand the end-users needs as parts of this machine are far too advanced for beginners and parts are far too simple for experienced users – leaving it without a proper target market.
Unless this machine was given to you for free, I would stay away from it and spend your money elsewhere.
