Full Review of the Toyota SPB15 Sewing Machine
There is something very bright and breezy looking about this sewing machine; the blue shading and arrows make it look very user friendly and efficient somehow and the colour coded stitch wheel is clear and large, with a knurled edge to make it easy to grip. There are eleven stitches to choose from and with the adjustable length this makes it quite versatile. At only 14 lbs in weight it is on the light side of average, making it easy to move around and the soft dust cover means that it is easy to store anywhere.
Getting started with the Toyota SPB15 Sewing Machine
I am a completely novice sewer with a machine and so I bought the Toyota SPB15 Sewing Machine because it looked fairly user friendly. It came with an instruction booklet but I armed myself with a friend who does a lot of sewing in case I didnt understand anything that cropped up. I managed okay as a matter of fact and she was quite impressed she said she was impressed with me, but I think it was the machine she really liked!
Apparently, I will really like the zigzag stitches and I am prepared to believe her on that. Currently, I am mostly making curtains and matching cushion covers and amazing myself each time something works out well. So, essentially, I am finding the Toyota SPB15 Sewing Machine to be exactly what I want for now and it was really easy to learn how to use.
Who would buy one?
I dont think this is just for novices. I think that experienced stitchers would enjoy it as well, because it gives very even stitching and there are a few decorative stitches if you like doing that kind of thing. I would imagine they would suit childrens clothing quite well, so if you have children or grandchildren it would be good for you. It feels very sturdy, so if you were perhaps looking for something to teach your children on, it would stand up well to that and because all the stitches are chosen via a wheel, then it is easy to see if someone has the right stitch chosen probably more easily than if it was a slider or screen.
At 800 stitches per minute it goes along pretty quickly and if you were making a lot of simple shapes like curtains, it would be perfect for that. I didnt even know that Toyota made sewing machines and as I havent needed any repairs I dont know how that would pan out, but the bobbin seems quite standard and so Im sure parts wouldnt be a problem.
